Bio

Annexed are a Sydney based rock ensemble who, through their use of intricate rhythms and layered melodies, have ousted the need for vocals creating an original sound unexampled in the local music scene.

Drawing on influences from prog, electronic & punk music, members Alejandro Gonzalez (drums), Diego Mora (guitar) & Tim Chang (guitar) met whilst studying audio engineering in Sydney four years ago; a musical distinction evident in their approach to music making.

Backed by local independant label Soviet Records, the band were first approached to record a track for the label's first compilation, released late 2006. With Soviet contributing to some of Sydney's finest acts and releases, the band welcomed the opportunity and recorded a live track for the release. After working together for the Soviet compilation, both parties seemed to be more than happy to continue a working relationship.

After much delay due to hiccups in the production process, the band have at last released their debut album. 'WHEN PHILISTINES JOUST' blends heavy rhythmic elements and melodies, hard riffs and a melancholy undertone to create a complex, euphonic soundscape.

Annexed have gained a respected reputation amongst both avid music fans and musicians alike through their numerous performances around New South Wales and Melbourne city. These live gigs have included venues such as (but not limited to) The Annandale Hotel, Hopetoun Hotel, Sandringham Hotel, Lansdowne Hotel, Dirty Shirlows, Déjà vu, Lucky Country(Newcastle), Pot Belly(Canberra), The Pony(Melb), The Tote(Melb).

Pre-production for the second album is already under way whilst Annexed are still busy promoting the debut album. Along with an upcoming Soviet Records tour of Australia's east coast and plenty of live Sydney shows in 2009, it looks to be a bright year for this musical collective.
